Ameer Salameh Supervising Clinical and Educational Psychologist
Ameer Salameh is a specialist and supervising clinical and educational psychologist with extensive experience in therapeutic, diagnostic, supervisory and managerial work with children, adolescents and adults. He is a graduate of a three-year programme in psychoanalytic psychotherapy at the University of Haifa, and his professional work combines in-depth dynamic thinking with focused, trauma-informed therapeutic approaches.
His clinical areas of expertise include treating trauma and stress states, treating survivors of sexual assault, and treating inappropriate and harmful sexual behaviour. Alongside this, he treats emotional and behavioural regulation difficulties and behavioural problems, adapting the response to the unique needs of the client and their family.
Today Ameer directs Kerem Center, a treatment centre specialising in work with survivors of sexual assault. At the same time, he is a supervisor at the Educational Psychology Service in Kiryat Shmona and is responsible for the internship and professional training of psychologists in the service. In addition, he serves as Northern District coordinator for behavioural problems at SHEFI (the Ministry of Education’s psychological and counselling service), providing supervision and professional leadership to teams and to therapeutic and educational systems.
He completed his internship in educational psychology at the Educational Psychology Service in Kiryat Shmona, and his internship in clinical psychology at Ziv Medical Center. Over the years he has completed many in-depth professional trainings at HaMidrasha – the Institute for Advanced Studies in Psychology, and in other professional frameworks in Israel and abroad.
His therapeutic training includes EMDR levels 1 and 2, dedicated training in EMDR for children, and training in DBT, Schema Therapy and Somatic Experiencing (SE) up to Advanced level. In parallel, he spent three years studying psychoanalytic psychotherapy at the University of Haifa, aiming to combine an understanding of a person’s inner world, relationships and emotional patterns with focused therapeutic tools for working with trauma, regulation and crisis.
In assessment, Ameer has experience and expertise in psychodiagnostic assessment, learning-disability assessment and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) assessment. Autism is one of the central areas of expertise in his work. Over the years he has completed in-depth training in Israel and abroad in autism treatment and assessment, with a particular emphasis on evaluation and diagnosis, and advanced to Trainer level for training professionals in the field.
Over the years Ameer has delivered many trainings in autism assessment to professionals from a range of disciplines, including psychologists, psychiatrists, neurologists, physicians and speech-language therapists. The trainings took place in health funds, hospitals, treatment centres and professional settings across Israel, as well as in trainings for professionals outside Israel. His work in the field draws on extensive diagnostic experience, an in-depth understanding of the developmental and clinical complexity of ASD, and a combination of structured assessment tools with a broad clinical and integrative perspective.
Alongside his therapeutic and diagnostic work, Ameer supervises psychologists and other professionals, develops and leads professional trainings and supervises multidisciplinary teams. Over the years he has also completed advanced studies and training in professional management, team leadership and the management of clinics and treatment settings, with an emphasis on services dealing with trauma, sexual abuse and populations with complex therapeutic needs.
His professional approach is based on combining theoretical depth, extensive clinical experience, precise diagnostic thinking and an in-depth familiarity with therapy, education and health systems, while adapting the response to the person, the family and the system in which they live.
The therapeutic approach
My work is based on psychoanalytic training and is adapted anew each time to the person sitting across from me. I believe good therapy starts with listening and a sense of safety — and only then with tools. We set the pace together, and there is no obligation to talk about anything before you are ready.
In the first sessions we’ll clarify together what brings you, what you have already tried and what you would like to change. From this, a clear way of working takes shape, which we review from time to time to make sure it is really moving you forward.

Therapy and assessment in Arabic
The clinic offers therapy and assessment in both Hebrew and Arabic. For Arabic speakers, working in one’s mother tongue is not only a matter of convenience: it allows feelings to be expressed more precisely, and in assessment it is a condition for getting an accurate picture of a person’s abilities. I work to make ASD assessments accessible in Arabic, where there is a real shortage of assessors.
